October 20th through the 26th is National Retirement Security Week due to a bipartisan resolution signed by Senator Mike Enzi. Governor Mark Gordon has also signed a proclamation stating October 13th through the 19th as Wyoming’s “ Retirement Security Week”.

WYO Film Festival Has Great Turnout

Last weekend, the WYO Theater hosted its 2nd annual WYO Film Festival in Sheridan. There were around 40 films that were shown, including shorts and feature length films. Justin Stroup, Festival Director, watched over 1000 films before deciding on the ones that were to be shown at the WYO.

Friday, the United States celebrated Manufacturing Day. This year Sheridan held tours of local manufacturing companies for three days instead of one. This allowed more of the manufacturers to open their doors to the public.

UW Freshman Enrollment On The Rise

This Fall, The University of Wyoming (UW) had 1,760 first-time students enroll. The number is a 12 percent increase from the number of enrollees in 2014. Last year was a record year for UW at 1,849 Freshman students. UW’s graduation rates have also increased.

Hearts of Glass Documentary Coming to Sheridan

A film called Hearts Of Glass is coming to Sheridan and is about a 15 month journey in which people with disabilities are given the employment opportunity to be a part of an innovative startup.

The National Association of Broadcasters is the premier advocacy association for America’s broadcasters. During the NAB Marconi Awards ceremony, held in Dallas, Texas this past week, KWYO was named the Small Market Radio Station of the Year.
