SHERIDAN YOUTH POST SEASON BASEBALL - The Sheridan little league team is 2-0 in pool play at the state little league state tournament in Riverton, a day after blowing out Kemmerer the Sheridan team beat Rawlins 17-0 yesterday. They continue pool play today against Gillette. 16 teams are competing at the state tournament.

The 13 year old babe Ruth state tournament opens in Sheridan today with the Sheridan team playing Riverton this evening at 6:00. The tournament is being played at Redle field in Thorne-rider park.

The Sheridan 14-15 year old Babe Ruth team is playing at their state tournament in Powell. They open pool play today against Laramie.

The Sheridan Jets open up the Wyoming American legion “B” state tournament in Casper tomorrow. the Jets open with Laramie tomorrow morning at 10:00.

The Sheridan Troopers will play Powell tomorrow in their district tournament in Cody.

Sheridan will host the state American legion baseball tournament next week at Thorne-Rider stadium.

LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - Kayla Woodward will be a senior this fall at Sheridan high school, the two time all-state basketball player has made her decision on where she will continue her basketball carer in college. Woodward gave Head coach Joe Legerski and the University of Wyoming a verbal commitment to play for the Cowgirls in the 2011-2012 season.

Woodward is spending her summer playing with a club team in Denver and will be play at a tournament this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kayla will join her older brother Austin who is getting ready to start fall drills with the Cowboy football team and a few weeks.

LOCAL GOLF - Sheridan country club has been a nine hole course for decades as of yesterday the local golf course is now 18 holes. A year after beginning construction of a new nine holes the course will open to members Saturday. Yesterday the club hosted a first foursome to play the new course and will have a few tee times today before a full open house to members Saturday.

Club professional Danny Sanderson talks about the new nine. It maybe be more wide open and longer than he original nine holes but they did keep one thing from the old course and that is the size of the greens. And after starting just over a year ago the new nine holes are in terrific condition.

The Powder Horn hosts it's largest event of the summer beginning today. the practice round for the summer hummer is today with the opening round of the three day event starting tomorrow.

The Sheridan Elks lodge will host a one club and putter golf tournament at Kendrick golf course Sunday afternoon the event will start at 4:00 and will be nine holes. The entry fee is 25 dollars per player. To enter stop by or call the Kendrick golf course pro shop.

The Sheridan high school booster club will host their golf tournament at the Powder Horn next Friday, August 30th. The tournament will shot gun start at 9:00 am and is a our person team scramble. To enter a team please contact Don Julian at Sheridan high school 672-2495 ex. 3106.

NHSFR - The national high school finals rodeo continues in Gillette. Megan Belus from Buffalo is 31st overall in goat tying, 27th in break away roping and 40th in Pole bending. Nikki Baumann from Sheridan is 84th overall in the goat tying and Casey Collins from Sheridan is 62nd in Steer Wrestling
