Wyoming All-Stars Come Up Short

The Wyoming/Montana All-Star basketball series got underway Friday night at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome at Sheridan College. The Montana girls chalked up their eighth straight victory over Wyoming by a final of 72-54. Montana led by only eight after three quarters, but outscored Wyoming 25-15 in the final quarter.

It wasn't any better for the boys team, as Montana won 114-86. The Wyoming boys actually played well in the first half and led by four points after the first quarter and went into the half knotted up with Montana at 45 a piece. Montana went on a 24-11 run early in the second half and never trailed again, as they scored 69 second half points. The series will now shift to Rocky Mountain College in Billings, where all four teams will meet again this evening. Broadcast time on AM 1410 KWYO and 87.7 FM ESPN Radio is set for 5 o'clock. The girls game will tip first at 5:30, with the boys game to follow.

The Sheridan Troopers dropped the first of four games at a tournament in Omaha, Nebraska Friday. The Troopers gave up 9 first inning runs to Eaton, Colorado and struggled to get the offense going, losing by a final of 11-1. The Troopers are scheduled to play two games today and one on Sunday to wrap-up tournament play.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming coach Larry Shyatt has signed Hayden Dalton of Central Wyoming College to a scholarship offer.Dalton, who is originally from Parker, Colorado, played one season at Central Wyoming and will have three years of eligibility remaining at the University of Wyoming. The 6-foot-10, 190 pound Dalton started all 27 games he played in his freshman season at Central Wyoming. He averaged 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this past season. He shot 48.6 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from 3-point range.

The Colorado Rockies dropped the second game of their four game series with the Miami Marlins Friday night 5-1. The Rockies bats have been stagnant in the first two games of the series. Prior to a Carlos Gonzalez homer in the seventh inning, the Rockies went 17 innings without scoring a run. The Rockies will send David Hale to the mound for game three of the series today.
