Weekend Local Sports Wrap up / Hammer says Goodbye to Sheridan College / Rox fall at the Braves

BRONC / LADY BRONC SOCCER - The Sheridan high school soccer teams were swept over the weekend the Lady Broncs dropped games to Cheyenne Central and East 2-0 and 3-0 while the Broncs dropped road games 2-1 and 3-0.

This week they have the Gillette schools, tomorrow night the Lady Broncs host Campbell county while the Broncs play in Gillette game times are 4:00 and 6:00 Friday night the Broncs host Thunder Basin and the Lady Broncs will play at Thunder.

TRACK AND FIELD - In weekend track and field action the Broncs and Lady broncs were in Sturgis, South Dakota and the Tongue River track teams hosted their own invitational and those results are posted on the below on the sports page.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers played four games to open their season in Casper they went 3-1 overall with a 15-4 win over Laramie they beat Rock Springs 7-2 and Jackson 2-0 then dropped the final game of the weekend yesterday 18-0 against Cheyenne.

The Troopers will get back on the field Saturday with a road double header in Laurel, Montana they have home their opener is May12th in a return double header with the Laurel Dodgers.

ROCKIES BASEBALL - The Colorado Rockies closed out a series in Atlanta Sunday losing a shoot out with the Braves Jack Corrigan has the wrap up. You can hear tonight's game live on Fox Sports radio 87.7 FM.

SHERIDAN COLLEGE ATHLETICS - The Sheridan college athletic department held their school year ending athletic banquet in the Hoffman dome Saturday night with a Hall of Fame ceremony.

The class of 2019 included Mike Daley who played his high school basketball in Big Horn then for Bruce Hoffman at the college and has been a long time coach and teacher at Big Horn.

Also inducted was long time athletic office Executive assistant Martha Saxton and the Williams brothers Ryan and Rory they played their high school basketball in Gillette then for coach Hoffman with the Generals, Ryan is currently the Head coach of the Colorado state women and Rory is the current boys Head coach at Thunder Basin high school.

They also honored this past season's teams and athletes and former Generals basketball coach Matt Hammer also attended in his final appearance with the Generals, two weeks ago Hammer was named the next head coach at Colorado state-Pueblo and he talked with us following the event.

Hammer gave an emotional farewell address to the crowd and his former players and said it was a tough moment for many reasons.

He also talked about taking over at a program that didn't have much success this past season.

And finally he said that Sheridan college and the community of Sheridan is where it all started for him and it will always be a special place.
