Weekend Local Sports Wrap up

BRONC AND LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams swept all four weekend games with Laramie and Cheyenne South.

They both beat up Laramie pretty good Friday the Lady Broncs won 57-40 and the Broncs took down the Plainsmen 71-36 Saturday was a different day and both teams struggled but pulled off late victories the Lady Broncs did with one second to play.

They were down 47-46 with Jordan Christensen at the free throw line with one shot to tie the game, she missed and Katie Ligocki saved the day.

Head coach Larry Ligocki says they were happy to open conference play with two wins.

This week they have to do it on the road they play at Cheyenne East and Central and they know how tough that trip is.

The Broncs led most off the way against South Saturday but couldn't put them away, the lead went back and forth in the 4th quarter with the Broncs pulling away in the final 1:30 for the 50-42 victory, Head coach Jeff Martini said it was a tough game but they will take the win.

And he says it gives the Broncs a little wake up call and sets up a big weekend.

They have East and Central this week those teams were involved in a bench clearing brawl last Thursday and several players from both teams received two game suspensions so many East players won't be suited up for the game Friday.

Game times Friday at East are at 6:00 and 7:30, Saturday's games at Central are at noon at 1:30 all four games can be heard live on KWYO and 106.9 FM.

RAMS / EAGLES BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams split with Sundance Friday the boys took their game 68-44 while the Lady Rams lost 42-37.

The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles both lost at Wright Friday then hosted games with Big Horn Saturday, the Lady Rams beat the Lady Eagles 44-35, the boys game went into overtime with the Eagles coming out on top 70-67.

This week Big Horn plays at home Friday against Wright and travels to Upton Saturday.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles play at Moorcroft Friday and host Sundance Saturday.

A/C BASKETBALL - The Arvada / Clearmont teams split at Hulett Saturday the Lady Panthers won 42-38 the Panthers dropped the game 82-56. This week they play at Kaycee and host Ten Sleep.

SC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college Lady Generals play at Eastern Wyoming tonight then join the Generals for road games Wednesday at Gillette and Saturday at Casper college.

COWBOY BASKETBALL - The Wyoming Cowboys beat Utah state 85-77 they host Nevada Wednesday night we will have it live on KWYO and 106.9 FM broadcast time is at 8:30.

COWGIRL BASKETBALL - The Cowgirls beat the Aggies 61-44 they play at Nevada Wednesday and host San Jose state Saturday.

WRESTLING - The Bronc wrestlers placed 5th at an invitational hosted by Moorcroft they had two champions Reese Osborn and Hunter Goodwin, this weekend they will compete at the big "Ron Thon" invitational in Riverton.

SWIMMING - The Bronc swimmers get back into action at home Friday hosting Cody, Worland and Casper Kelly Walsh then it's over to Gillette for a big invitational Saturday.
