AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers blew out Riverton in their opening game yesterday in the North District American Legion baseball tournament in Gillette.

The Troopers came into the District tournament as the number two seed and hammered Riverton 21-3 to get into the semi finals.

The Troops will play Douglas in one semi final this afternoon at 4:00 Douglas advanced yesterday beating Powell 12-4.

The other semi final will have the Casper Oilers playing Gillette, Casper advanced by beating Cody 12-2 and Gillette beat up Lovell 18-1.

If the Troopers win today they will qualify for next week's state tournament in Cheyenne.

The Sheridan Jets continue play the "B" state tournament in Casper today,

No matter what happens to the Jets this weekend in the state tournament they will play in the "B" regional in Sheridan as the host team next week.

The American Legion "B" Regional is scheduled to begin at Thorne-Rider stadium next Thursday

SHERIDAN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL - The Sheridan little league all-star teams split games yesterday in bracket play at the state tournament in Laramie.

The 9-10 year old all-star team advanced to the championship game today and have qualified for their state tournament.

They beat Gillette 3-2 yesterday next week they will play at the state tournament in Gillette.

The 11-12 year olds lost to a Gillette team 12-10 yesterday and just missed out qualifying for the state tournament. They will play a 3rd place game today

SHERIDAN BABE RUTH BASEBALL - The Sheridan 14-15 year old Babe Ruth all-star team continues play today at their state tournament on Rock Springs and 13 year old team is playing at their tournament in Worland.

LOCAL GOLF - The 15th annual Summer Hummer golf tournament continues today with second round play at the Powder Horn.

The Powder Horn will be busy next week as well and some of the best amateur women's golfers from the United States and seven foreign countries will compete in the annual women's Transnational golf tournament.

The event begins with a practice round Monday then two rounds of stroke play before the top 64 advance to match play the tournament will run all next week.

Register for the Elks one club golf tournament, the event will start Sunday at 4:00 at Kendrick golf course the tournament is nine holes golfers can only use one club and a putter registration forms are available at Kendrick golf course.

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL CAMP - Sheridan college women's volleyball coach Jennifer Weitzel and the Lady Generals will host their youth volleyball camp August 1st through 4th in the Hoffman dome at Sheridan college.

The morning session is for players K-5th grade and the afternoon session for players in the 6th through 12th grades.
