Troopers Drop State Tournament Opener / Rockies Lose at St. Louis / Kendrick Club Championship Opens Saturday

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers dropped their opener at the Wyoming state "AA" American Legion baseball tournament it was a disaster for the Troops as they fall to the Jackson Giants 9-6 to fall into the loser's bracket.

The Troopers held a 2-1 lead going into the 6th inning, Jackson would blow the game open with six runs in the 6th and the Troops never recovered, they play an elimination game today against Evanston.

other games Wednesday had Cheyenne beating Evanston 16-4, Laramie beat Casper 12-9 and Gillette knocked off Rock Springs 4-1.

Here are the match ups today the Troopers play Evanston then it's Casper against Rock Springs the winner's bracket games have Cheyenne taking on Jackson and Laramie plays Gillette.

KENDRICK CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - Kendrick golf course will host the annual Kendrick Club championship this weekend the tournament will be played Saturday and Sunday they have tee times between 8 and 10 am the fee is 50 dollars per player.

The tournament is flighted by handicap and they will also have a youth division for ages 9-13 the deadline to get signed up is tomorrow stop by the Golf shop at Kendrick golf course.

FALL SPORTS- The 2017-18 high school sports season starts for the Sheridan Bronc football team with their team leadership overnight camp August 5th the annual team / parent meeting will be held at Sheridan high school at 4:00 pm Sunday, August 6th and the Broncs meet to open practice August 7th at 7 am.

Broncs Head coach and SHS Activities Director Don Julian says as far as athletics go the summer is slipping away.

The Big Horn Rams and Tongue River Eagles open their football camps Wednesday, August 9th.

Fall tennis and golf open August 7th with girls swimming, cross country and volleyball opening August 14th the opening weekend of the regular season is August 25th and 26th.

FOOTBALL OFFICIALS WANTED - The Sheridan football officials association is looking for new officials anyone interested in officiating football this season should come to their next meeting Monday, August 14th the meeting will be held at Sheridan high school at 6:00 pm.
