Troopers Advance at State Baseball / Rockies at Nats Tonight / Fall Sports Time Line

"AA" STATE AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers held off a late charge by Evanston to advance in the state American Legion baseball tournament.

The Troopers built a 14-7 lead going into the bottom of the 8th inning but Evanston would score 6 times to make it close as the Troops held on for the 14-13 win to eliminate the Outlaws in the other elimination game Casper beat Rock Springs 10-7

The Troopers will play Laramie this afternoon at 4:30 in another elimination game with Casper playing Jackson.

Cheyenne beat Jackson 19-2 and Gillette beat Laramie 12-2, Cheyenne will play Gillette in the winner's bracket semi final tonight.

ROCKIES BASEBALL - The Colorado Rockies open a weekend road series at the Washington Nationals tonight you can hear the game live on Sports Talk 87.7 FM Rockies on deck starts at 4:30.

FALL HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS - The 2017-18 high school sports season starts for the Sheridan Bronc football team with their team leadership camp next Friday and Saturday the annual team / parent meeting will be held at Sheridan high school at 4:00 pm next Sunday,the Broncs meet to open practice August 7th at 7 am.

Broncs Head coach and SHS Activities Director Don Julian says the main focus for those athletes that have not done so it to get sports physicals completed.

One change going into the new year will be the addition into the conference of Thunder Basin high school in Gillette.

And finally today Julian says activities and athletics are a big part of making sure Sheridan high school students get a well rounded education.

The Big Horn and Tongue River football teams open their camps Wednesday, August 9th.

Fall tennis and golf open August 7th with Girls swimming, Cross country and Volleyball opening August 14th.

FOOTBALL OFFICIALS - The Sheridan football officials association is looking for new officials anyone interested in officiating football this season should come to their next meeting Monday, August 14th the meeting will be held at Sheridan high school at 6:00 pm.
