Spring Storm Threatens Local Sports Schedule / Rockies Drop 5th Straight

SPRING SPORTS SCHEDULE - A spring snow storm threatens this week's local sports schedule we sat down with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian to talk about plans for the rest of this week as the snow begins.

And another issue with the spring schedule it is set in a tight window so many events if lost to the weather can't be made up.

ROCKIES BASEBALL - The Colorado Rockies opened a home series last night with Atlanta, Jack Corrigan has the game wrap up. You can hear the game live on Fox Sports radio 87.7 FM.

TROOPER BASEBALL - With the latest weather forecast it look like the Sheridan Troopers will be back indoors this week as they get ready to open their baseball season, the season opener is two weeks from Saturday in Casper.

Kendrick Park Ice Cream Stand will Open on Mother's Day / SHS Track and Tennis Tomorrow / Rockies v Braves Tonight

SRD - The Sheridan Recreation District with open up the iconic Kendrick park ice cream stand this spring opening day will be early next month, here's District Director Seth Ulvestad.

And in a couple of weeks they will be hosting their annual kids Easter egg hunt and annual pet Easter egg hunt.

SHS Track and Field in Spearfish Today / Bronc / Lady Bronc Soccer vs Thunder Basin / Rockies v Dodgers in Their Home Opener

TRACK AND FIELD - The Broncs and Lady Broncs will compete at an invitational in Spearfish, South Dakota today.

Head coach Taylor Kelting says the weather looks to make for a great meet and they will have their full squads together for the first time.

The Big Horn track teams will compete at an invite in Casper today and the Tongue River teams will compete in Powell tomorrow.

SRD Employment Opportunities / Rockies Break Losing Streak / SHS vs the Gillette Schools

SRD - The Sheridan Recreation District is in full swing gearing up for summer and with that they have some good opportunities for summer employment district Director Seth Ulvestad is holding a lifeguard class this weekend and they need more to staff Kendrick pool this summer.

Kendrick pool is scheduled to open weather permitting June 1st.

They also have more openings on their summer maintenance staff.

SRD Youth Programs Start off the Spring Season / Rockies fall at TB / SHS Soccer v Thunder and Campbell

SRD - The Sheridan Recreation District started a new youth program this week District Director Seth Ulvestad says Lacrosse is now a part of their youth league programming.

And starting next week they will start up the Spring Youth Running club.

Troopers / Jets Begin Baseball Workouts / Rockies fall at the Rays / SRD Softball Sign ups Now

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers and Jets took the field for the first time this spring Monday to begin preparation for the 2019 baseball season.

Head coach Ben Phillips had the players out on "Rottelini" field yesterday and has liked what he has seen with the pitching staff for the last several weeks throwing indoors.
