State American Legion Baseball Opens Today / Rockies Drop 2nd Straight at St. Louis / Local Football Officials Wanted

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers open post season play today at the Wyoming state "AA" American Legion tournament in Casper, the Troops open against the Jackson Giants it will be the first game of the tournament first pitch is set for 10:00.

Troops Head coach Ben Phillips says Jackson has a good ball club and they need to get off to a good start today.

And Phillips says heading into the tournament there is no team this season that has dominated this summer and the team that gets hot over the next four days will win the state title.

Other first round games today has Rock Springs taking on Gillette, Cheyenne plays Evanston and Laramie will play Casper.

ROCKIES BASEBALL - The Colorado Rockies lost 3-2 at the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday night here's the wrap up. You can hear the game live on Sports Talk 87.7 FM Rockies on deck will start at 5:40.

KENDRICK CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF - Kendrick golf course will host the annual Kendrick club championship this weekend the tournament will be played Saturday and Sunday they have tee times between 8 and 10 am the fee is 50 dollars per player.

The tournament is flighted by handicap and they will also have a youth division for ages 9-13 to get signed up stop by the Golf shop at Kendrick golf course.

FALL SPORTS - The 2017-18 high school sports season starts for the Sheridan Bronc football team with their team leadership overnight camp August 4th and 5th the annual team / parent meeting will be held at Sheridan high school at 4:00 pm Sunday, August 6th and the Broncs meet to open practice August 7th at 7 am.

The Big Horn Rams and Tongue River Eagles open their football camps Wednesday, August 9th.

Fall tennis and golf open August 7th with Girls swimming, Cross country and Volleyball opening August 14th the opening weekend of the regular season is August 25th and 26th.

FOOTBALL OFFICIALS WANTED - The Sheridan football officials association is looking for new officials anyone interested in officiating football this season should come to their next meeting Monday, August 14th the meeting will be held at Sheridan high school at 6:00 pm.
