MILLWARD SIMPSON AWARDS - Sheridan high school's Kayla Woodward and Big Horn's Colby Wollenman were the winners of the annual Millward Simpson award as Wyoming's top high school athletes.

The ceremony was held in Casper Saturday night. Wollenman and Woodward were both multi-sport standouts in high school.

Wollenman is the first male athlete from Big Horn high school to win the Simpson award while Woodward follows her brother Austin who won the award in 2010.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers are 20-12 overall after dropping three straight in Nebraska over the weekend.

They lost 3-2 and 3-0 Friday in Gering and dropped a 9-7 game in Scottsbluff Saturday

They host a double header tonight with Casper and Wednesday against Cody.

We will be broadcasting the first game of the Casper double header live tonight on 14-10 KWYO the first pitch is scheduled to be tossed out at 5:00.

HIGH SCHOOL RODEO - Five Sheridan / Johnson county rodeo competitors will compete for Wyoming in the National high school finals rodeo next month.They qualified after the state finals in Douglas over the weekend.

Sheridan's Casey Collins Big Horn's Cole Ponce will join Bryce Burnett and Faith Carson from Arvada and Cameron Irwin from Buffalo.

The National high school finals rodeo will be held July 17th - 23rd in Gillette.

LOCAL TENNIS - The Sheridan high school tennis teams will be hosting a singles tennis tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Sheridan high school tennis courts.

The tournament is open to all tennis players in Sheridan county they will have two divisions of play (A and B) for both men and women. The entry fee is 10 dollars per player and a can of new balls.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, please send entry fees to Sheridan high school tennis coach Bob Faurot and 360 Smith street in Sheridan.

All proceeds will go support the Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc tennis program

REC DISTRICT "FREEDOMFEST" 2011 - The Sheridan Rec district along with Sheridan Media, Kilpatrick Creations and Pepsi will host "Freedomfest" on the 4th of July.

It's an event for the whole family and will take place behind the old Woodland park school from 10 am to 2 pm on the 4th of July.

Food and refreshments will be provided, they will be having lots of kids and family games and it's all free.

WYO GAME AND FISH - The Story fish hatchery is open after years of remodeling, Game and Fish Information specialist Warren Mischke

They will be holding an open house for the hatchery on Saturday July 9th from 10 am to 4 pm.

And Mischke has reminder for all of us re-guarding wildlife and their young this time of year.
