Lady Generals volleyball coach Jennifer Weitzel

LADY GENERALS VOLLEYBALL - The Sheridan college volleyball program has a new Head coach Jennifer Weitzel.

Weitzel arrived at the Hoffman Dome yesterday for the first time as the Head coach and we sat down and talked about the task at hand, filling out the 2011 roster and getting ready for the upcoming season.

Since they are getting a late start Weitzel says she's getting right to work. And she says she'll be contacting recruits right away.

Weitzel comes to Sheridan from Black Hills state University in Spearfish, South Dakota where she served as an assistant coach and as the interim head coach last season.

She started her college playing career at Laramie county in Cheyenne ans says she's familiar with Region nine volleyball.

Even though she hasn't met the current players face to face and still has to add a few to the roster she says expectations will be high for the 2011 season.

Steve Smiley is the Generals Head basketball coach and also the Athletic Director and says they are pleased with the hiring of Weitzel to join the Lady Generals volleyball program.

GENERALS BASKETBALL - Smiley also announced the hiring of Dan Magrino as an assistant coach with the Generals basketball program for the 2011-12 season.

Smiley and some former players and coaches are hosting their youth basketball camp through tomorrow, 75 youth players are getting a great week of fun and

SHERIDAN GOLF - Sheridan Bronc golfer Kamrin Allen has qualified to be in the field for the US Amateur Public Links Championships.

He won a Public Links qualifying event in Cody two weeks ago. Allen has helped the broncs win two out of the last three Wyoming state golf titles the Broncs are also on a 19 tournament winning streak.

The 2011 US Public Links Amateur will be played in Oregon beginning June 27th. Last summer Allen qualified for the US Juniors.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers will play in a tournament this week in Spearfish, South Dakota. Play begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

Next week they have road games in Cheyenne and Scottsbluff and Gering, Nebraska.

The Troops next home games will be a double header with Casper on June 27th.
