The Sheridan College Rodeo Team traveled to Casper for the second to last rodeo of the season. The men's team was led by Zeke Thurston. Zeke and his team roping partner Jayne Lauweryssen roped their steer in 8.9 seconds in the long round, qualifying for the short round in 8th place.

Jayne missed in the short round. Zeke was 66 points in the Bronc Riding in the long round splitting 2nd/3rd and won the short round with a score of 74 also winning the average. He earned 165 team points.

Teammate Tayte Clark also had a good weekend. Tayte had a really nice ride in the Bronc Riding and won the long round with a score of 72 points. Tayte was 60 points in the long round in the Bareback Riding, however he got bucked off his horse in the short round and hurt his leg so he wasn't able to get on his Bronc in the short round. Tayte ended up with 60 team points for the weekend.

Logan Schaper tied his calf in a time of 10.8 seconds in the long round which was good enough to qualify him for the short round. He tied his 2nd calf in 12.5 seconds, placing 5th in the round and 4th in the average earning a total of 30 team points.

Cash Hetzel and his partner Cashlee Cunningham had a time of 9.3 seconds in the long round of the Team Roping. They had an awesome run in the short round with a time of 6.8 seconds, placing 1st in the round and 3rd in the average, earning themselves 100 points.

On the women's side Jayne Lauweryssen and Cashlee Cunningham did well in the team roping with their partners. Outside the team roping, Jayne also did well in the breakaway roping. She placed 4th in the long round with a time of 2.8 seconds.

Jayne also roped her calf in the short go, and had a time of 4.1 seconds splitting 5th/6th in the average earning a total of 45 team points.

Cashlee and Teddi Schwagler just missed the short round in the goat tying. It was very tough this weekend. We also had 3 Barrel Racers in the top 20. Cassidy Mutchler, Shelby Newman and Allie Novotny all had 16 second runs.

They have one rodeo left and have some athletes who have a great chance to qualify for the CNFR. Taygen Schuelke is still sitting 3rd in the region in the Bull Riding. He is also 4th in the Bronc Riding.

With a good weekend in Laramie, he has a chance to qualify in 2 events. Zeke Thurston is 2nd in the region in the Bronc Riding by 10 points. He has a great chance to move up in the #1 spot next weekend.

Both men and women's teams have had great seasons. We are looking to finish out the season strong next weekend. We'll let you know how it all plays out!
