The rodeo athletes traveled to Casper, Wyoming to compete in the second to last rodeo of the spring season of the Central Rocky Mountain Region. The women’s team had a strong performance as there were four different women that were able to compete in the championship round on Sunday.

Tioni Erickson had a solid run in the goat tying as she stopped the clock with an 8.4. She came back in the short go and had a run of 8.9 seconds which put her 4th in the short round and 4th in the average earning her 55 points for the weekend.

She currently is sitting 3rd in the region in the goat tying with one rodeo left. The Generals had three women perform in the short go.

Lexy Williams had a quick time of 2.7 seconds in the long go which she split 2nd/3rd place. In the short go she drew a faster calf and had some tough luck as she had a no time.

Kaylee Reimler had a nice run of 3.2 seconds in the long go but received a no time in the short go. Calby Hanson roped her calf in 3.0 seconds which gave her another chance on Sunday for more points.

She had a very quick time of 2.5 seconds but left a little early and broke the barrier which resulted in a 10 second penalty. Even with her penalty she was able to gain 40 points.

The men’s team had some tough luck this weekend, however there were two men that gained points for the team. Trig Clark picked up 35 points in the bareback riding with a score of 69.

Tyrell Ward scored a 66 in the bull riding which was the 3rd best score in the long round. In the short go Tyrell was unable to make the eight second whistle for a qualified ride. Ward picked up 90 points in the bull riding.

With one rodeo left athletes are striving for one of the top three places in the region which would give them a ticket to the College National Finals held in Casper, Wyoming in June.

The top three athletes in each event, top two men’s and women’s team and all-around winners will be given a chance to compete along with the nation’s best competitors.
