BRONC FOOTBALL - The snow fell and so did Cheyenne Central Saturday night as the Sheridan Broncs won the 4-A State Title 40-15. Head coach Don Julian.

The Broncs lost the season opener August 28th against Kelly Walsh, and then ran off 11 consecutive victories and their first Championship since

They dominated Central, scoring six touchdowns -- four by the offense, one by the defense, and another by the special teams as Cody Williams started the game returning the opening kick 99 yards for atouchdown.

The Broncs led 13-7 at halftime; they opened up the second half with two Austin Woodward touchdown runs in the 3rd Quarter to bump the lead up to 26-7. Dan Zemski put the game out of reach in the 4th with a 10-yard interception return for a touchdown, and Woodward would get the final score on a short run with just under two minutes to play.

The Broncs' offensive line saved their best for last as they ran for 280 yards -- 154 from Woodward and 89 from Williams. The defense held Central to under 300 total yards. Julian comments on the leadership from theSenior class. And he also had praise for the coaching staff.

They end the season with a record of 11-1, an 11-game winning streak, beating every team in 4-A.

STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPS - In the other title games, Douglas won the 3-A Championship; Thermopolis took the 2-A Title; Southeast captured the 1-A; and Guernsey took the 6-Man crown.

UW FOOTBALL - The Wyoming football Cowboys were down 21 points in the 4th quarter and came back to beat San Diego State Saturday night 30-27. Ian Watts hit a 43-yard field goal with :23 to play for the win. This week the Pokes play at home Saturday against TCU.

NFL - The Denver Broncos lost 27-17 to Washington yesterday. This week they are back at home Sunday against San Diego.

UW BASKETBALL - The Wyoming basketball Cowboys blew their home opener, losing to South Dakota State 77-61. They play their next game at home Wednesday against Peru State out of Nebraska.

GENERALS BASKETBALL - The Sheridan College Generals are 3-0 on the season after winning twice at home over the weekend. Friday night they beat an All-Star team of former college players 78-70, and on Saturday they beat Otero Community College of La Junta, CO 79-68.

This weekend the Generals will play at a 2-day tournament at Northwest College in Powell.
