Jets win state tourney opener / Troops close out regular season tonight / Rec. District adult softball

STATE "B" BASEBALL - The Sheridan Jets beat Casper to open their state tournament at Thorne-Rider stadium Thursday night.

Head coach Ryan Murner says the Jets played well and it was a good win.

They will play Cheyenne in one semi final tonight at 8:00, they haven't played each other this season and Murner expects a good ball game.

In other action yesterday Cheyenne beat Jackson 10-0 to advance, the other winner's game will have Gillette playing Cody at 3:00.

The loser out games will have the Sheridan all-star team playing Laramie at 10:00 and Jackson playing Casper at 12:30.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers will be back in action tonight as they close out the regular season at Post 6 in Cheyenne. The "AA" state tournament starts Wednesday in Gillette.

REC. DISTRICT ADULT SOFTBALL - The Sheridan Rec district summer adult softball leagues continue to go strong as the season will close out over the next three weeks, adult softball Program Director Robbie Spencer says they have had a good summer so far.

Softball Championship weekend will be held in the middle of August and it will all be played at Thorne-Rider stadium.

3 ON 3 VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT - The 2nd annual "Never Flinch" summer slam 3 on 3 volleyball tournament will be held next Saturday on the grass at the Sheridan county YMCA.

Funds raised from the tournament will go to support the "Weston Johnson" memorial scholarship at Sheridan high school. To get your teams into the tournament info is available on the sports page at

SHERIDAN STORM YOUTH SOCCER - The Sheridan county soccer association is currently holding youth soccer registration for fall traveling soccer.
