1-A / 2-A REGIONAL BASKETBALL - The Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada/Clearmont basketball teams started regional tournament play Thursday.

In the girls 2-A East bracket the Tongue River Lady Eagles beat Lusk 54-27, the Big Horn Lady Rams beat Burns 54-48 and that sets up tonight's semi final Tongue River vs Big Horn at 7:00

The Eagles opened the tournament losing to Lusk 78-31 while the Rams opened with a 76-66 win over Saratoga.

The Eagles play a loser-out game with Moorcroft and the Rams will play Pine Bluffs in the semi finals tonight.

Winter Sports Winding Down For Jo Co Athletes 02 28 14

Winter sports are beginning to wind down with most teams this weekend at regional tournaments with a few at state and fewer still preparing for their regional tournaments next weekend.

Athletes from both Buffalo and Kaycee High Schools are all in action this weekend.

1-A / 2-A REGIONAL TOURNAMENT BASKETBALL - The Big Horn and Tongue River basketball teams have regional tournament beginning today.

The Eagles open the tournament this afternoon against Lusk at 1:30 the Rams will open with Saratoga at 5:30.

In the girls bracket the Tongue River Lady Eagles play Lusk at 4:00 and the Big Horn girls play Burns at 7:00.

The Arvada/Clearmont teams are in Douglas for their regional the Lady Panthers play Lingle at 4:00 and the Panthers play Guernsey at 7:00.

Bronc state wrestling preview / Pokes fall to AFA / Cowgirls at AFA tonight

STATE WRESTLING - The Bronc wrestlers will open the all-class state championships Friday matches begin at 9:00 Friday morning at the Casper Events Center.

Broncs Head coach Tyson Shatto says the Broncs are ready to go. The draw for the bracket took place Monday and Tyson says the bronc have a very good challenge in front of them.

And he says for the Broncs to contend for a title they must get off to a good start to get the momentum going.

The Wyoming Cowboy golf team played the third round of the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday, in Palm Desert, Calif., and finished in 19th place of the 23-team field after shooting a final round of 293 (+5). The Pokes finished with a three-round score of 889 (+25).

Sophomore Kamrin Allen led the Cowboy scoring and was the top finisher tying for 42nd place of the 127-man field. Allen completed the tournament with a final round 70 (-2) for a 54-hole total of 217 (+1). Allen’s final round was the best for the Cowboys on Sunday as well as his best of the tournament.

State Swimming / Wrestling / Cowboys host Falcons at the Double "AA"

BRONC SWIMMING - The Sheridan Bronc swimmers are three days away from starting their state meet.

The 4-A swimming and diving championships start Friday afternoon in Gillette, Broncs Head coach Brent Moore says they've had a pretty good season with a very young team.

And the rest they've had the past week has done a lot of good for each competitor.

Sheridan College hires men’s soccer coach

Sheridan College has hired Jeff Hallenbeck as its new men’s head soccer coach.

Hallenbeck, originating from Quincy, Mass., has served as a soccer coach at soccer camps for more than 20 years. He comes to Sheridan College following a four-year stint as the head boys’ soccer coach at Medway High School in Medway, Mass.

Hallenbeck has guided his prep teams to several championships in the last decade and was named the 2013 Boston Globe State Division III Coach of the Year.
