STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIPS - The Bronc soccer team will opened the state soccer tournament yesterday with a victory over Rock Springs.

The Broncs scored early and went onto shut out the Tigers 3-0 and advance to the semi-finals today.

Head coach Kevin Riser wanted a quick scoring strike and they got it from Colby Wollenman six minutes into the game.

Weather conditions were brutal and steady rain and wind pelted the players all day but Riser says they players make the best of it and he didn't feel the wet conditions effected play at all.

The Broncs will play Riverton at 4:30 in one of the semi finals they play each other at a jamboree back in early march and riser says they expect a great match today with the Wolverines.

The other 4-A boys semi final will have the defending state champs from Laramie playing Casper Kelly Walsh.

STATE TRACK AND FIELD - The state track and field championships opened yesterday in Casper

Team scores in class 1-A the NSI teams and the Arvada/Clearmont girls did not score any points during Thursday's competition.

The Big Horn Rams had a strong first day from Wyatt Mirich and stand in 2nd place. The Big Horn senior won the 2-A high jump and was 2nd in the long jump.

The Big Horn girls are 12th overall with Alex Blare picking up points with a 6th place finish in the long jump.

The Tongue River boys are in 5th place Cole Jolovich picked up points with a 4th place finish in the 3200 meters the Eagles were also 2nd in the 4x800 meter relay.

The Lady Eagles stand in 9th place as Bekki Herrman picked up points with a 3rd place finish in the shot put.

The Broncs are in 6th place overall and the Lady Broncs are 7th the best finish on day one for the Lady Broncs the 4x800 meter relay team finished 2nd.

The state meet gets rolling today at 9:00 with the final day coming tomorrow.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers will play their next games tomorrow weather permitting. They are scheduled to play a road double header with the Billings Blue Jays tomorrow afternoon.

The next home date for the Troops will be a double header with Douglas on June 3rd.
