Christian Mayer of Big Horn Wins 2014 Wyoming Gatorade Football Player of the Year

In its 30th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, announced Christian Mayer of Big Horn High School as its 2014-15 Gatorade Wyoming Football Player of the Year
Mayer is the first Gatorade Wyoming Football Player of the Year to be chosen from Big Horn High School.

GENERALS / LADY GENERALS BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college basketball teams host another tournament tomorrow and Saturday games will be played at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 with the Lady Generals going at 5:00 and the Generals at 7:00 all four games will be broadcast live on KWYO.

The Lady Generals are 9-2 overall the new national junior college top 25 poll came out Wednesday and the Lady Generals enter the poll for the first time this season at #19.

BRONC HOOPS - The Sheridan high school basketball teams are two days into their season we sat down with Broncs Head coach Gale Smith Tuesday, first Smith likes the new shorter preseason.

The Broncs missed out on the state tournament last spring and Smith says he has a good returning group of players that are hungry to make it to Casper in March.

Bronc Wrestlers looking for big things in 2015 / Hawks hockey season opens Friday / Pokes basketball tonight

BRONC WRESTLING - The high school winter sports season started Monday with the opening of practice for basketball, wrestling and Bronc swimming.

Today we hear from Sheridan Bronc wrestling coach Tyson Shatto as the Broncs took to the mat for the first time yesterday, first the issue of dealing with losing a week of practice before the first tournament.

And with a short time before the opener the issue of weight and weight certification comes into play early in the season as well.

SC hoops sweeps weekend action / Hawks open Hockey season at home Saturday / Pokes hoops now 6-0

GENERALS AND LADY GENERALS BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college basketball teams hosted the 40th annual Sheridan Lions club tournament over the weekend and they swept all four games the Lady Generals beat Rocky Mountain college 90-51 and Eastern Wyoming 89-73.

Sophomore Tianna Hanson had a monster weekend going for 28-12 Friday and against EWC Saturday she had 40 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocked shots.

They are 9-2 overall and will play at home this weekend in another tournament.

Sheridan Hawks Hockey season begins Dec. 6th / High school winter sports start Monday / Lions club hoops all weekend at the Hoffman dome

SHERIDAN HAWKS HOCKEY - The Sheridan Hawks hockey season starts next weekend when they open at home with Pinedale on December 6th and 7th.

Head coach Zane Garstad thinks the Hawks are in store for a very good season.

He says the welcome back some very good players and have some very talented newcomers as well.

They haven't had a lot of ice time for practice but Garstad says the attitude of the team has made up for the lack of early season skating.

SHERIDAN COLLEGE BASKETBALL - The Sheridan college basketball teams host the 40th annual Sheridan lions club tournament Friday and Saturday game times will be at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00, the Lady Generals play at 5:00 and 7:00 for the Generals.

The Generals are 8-2 overall coming off a couple of victories last weekend at a tournament in Casper, Head coach Matt Hammer says their last outing was a little shaky but the hung on and got a good road win. And after ten games team chemistry is starting to come together.
