AUSTIN WOODWARD - We announced yesterday that Sheridan high school Senior Austin Woodward became the 5th student from Sheridan high school to win the annual “Millward Simpson”award. The Simpson award goes to the top high school male and female athlete of the year for the state of Wyoming.

We caught up with Austin yesterday he says he had quite a senior year starting with November's Bronc state football championship.

Woodward received the Simpson award Saturday night in Casper and says the list of other nominees was impressive as he was surprised to be named this year's winner.

Austin will report to the University of Wyoming in August to start football practice as a Cowboy, right now he's working out with the Broncs during their off season training program.

And he says he has some goals to meet when he gets to Laramie in August.

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers have a conference double header at home tonight against the Casper Oilers. the Troops need a couple of victories since falling to 0-4 in conference play. The first game of the double header is schedule to start at 5:00.

BIG HORN POLO - Because of the 4th of July celebration Sunday at the Big Horn Equestrian the Big Horn Polo Club will play their matches Saturday.

The “Moncreiffe”Cup will be played at 1:00 and the “D.A.Davidson”cup will be played at3:00. All polo fans and the public are invited to attend admission is free.

MLB - The Colorado Rockies beat San Diego10-6 last night, Ublado Jimenez picked up his Major League leading 14th victory he's 14-1 on the season. The Rockies continue the series tonight in San Diego.
