08/22/09 sports for Saturday

HS GOLF - The first competition of the fall sports season is in the books, as the Sheridan Bronc golfers blew the field away, winning the Sheridan Invitational at Kendrick Golf Course. Five Broncs placed in the Top 10 with a total of 593 strokes. Gillette was 2nd, 49 shots behind the Broncs.

The Broncs' Kamrin Allen finished 1st in the individual standings, with teammate Cameron Lindell 2nd. Taylor Reed was 8th; Toby Nicholas was 9th and Chris Cremer was 10th. The Tongue River Eagles finished 8th as a team. The Lady Broncs placed 7th in the Girls' team race. Next up for the Sheridan golfers is a tournament in Gillette Monday and Tuesday.

HS FOOTBALL - The high school football season begins next Friday with the Sheridan Broncs opening the season at home against Casper Kelly Walsh. The Big Horn Rams and Tongue River Eagles will play a zero-week scrimmage with Glenrock next Saturday at Sheridan High School. The Rams open the regular season Thursday, September 3rd at Sheridan High School against Greybull. The Eagles will open at home Friday, September 4th against Hulett.

NFL - The Denver Broncos play another pre-season game tonight at Seattle. You can hear the game live on AM 1410 KWYO; broadcast time is set for 7:30.

UW - The Wyoming Cowboys are two weeks away from opening their season the Pokes open in Laramie September 5th against Weber state.
