SHERIDAN REC DISTRICT - The Sheridan Rec District is getting ready to change seasons with the little guy football sign-ups this week and the end of the adult summer softball league next week. Dale Boedecker is the softball manager and says they've had a good summer as Men's League play closes out next week. And despite some weather concerns, the season went well. Little Guy football registration is being held this week; the entry deadline is Friday at 5 o'clock.

Flag and Tackle League play opens August 25th. The Rec District opens team registration for Adult Flag Football starting Monday, August 17th. A mandatory team managers' meeting will be held at the old Highland Park School Wednesday, August 19th.

WHSAA - Next week the Wyoming High School Activities Association begins Officials Clinics for the coming year. They will have clinics for all prospective football, volleyball and swimming officials. The clinics are on video and will be held at Sheridan High School in room C217. Dale Boedecker is a long-time sports official and says state-wide numbers of officials for all sports are down. If you're interested in becoming a high school sports official, the state needs your help The clinics will be held next week at Sheridan High School, and each session runs from 7 to 9 pm. Football is Tuesday night, swimming is Wednesday and volleyball Thursday. For more information, contact Dale Boedecker or Richard Wright at the Sheridan Recreation District office.

HS GOLF - Tongue River and Big Horn High School golf coach Sandy Michelena will host his player / parent meeting at Big Horn High School August, 13th at 4 pm in the cafeteria. The meeting at Tongue River High School will also be on the 13th at Tongue River High School at 7 pm.

HS FOOTBALL - The Tongue River High School football coaches and players opened their youth football camp at the high school last night. The camp is for 1st through 8th graders. If you missed last night, you can still come tonight -- they start at 6 o'clock on the new football field; the cost is $20.

The Tongue River football player / parent meeting will take place Thursday, August 13th at Tongue River High School. This is a mandatory meeting for all Eagles players and their parents.

SHS FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Bronc football team opens fall training camp Monday. The annual Bronc player/ parent meeting will be this Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Sheridan High School auditorium. “Two-a-days” begin Monday morning at Homer Scott Stadium.

OTHER FALL SPORTS - The first day of practice for Sheridan High School volleyball, cross-country, tennis, girls swimming and golf will be August 17th. Activities director Don Julian reminds all athletes you must have sports physicals completed before you can practice with your teams.

MLB - The Colorado Rockies opened a 3-game series in Philadelphia last night and beat up the Phillies 8-3. They remain 6 1/2 games behind the Dodgers in the National League West. The series in Philly continues tonight.
