AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The State American Legion baseball has a new champion with a familiar name as Post 6 from Cheyenne won it's eighth title in the last nine years Saturday night in Rock Springs. Post # 6 routed Gillette in a rematch of last year's title game 17-11 and advances to the American Legion Northwest regional tournament in Medford, Oregon they open with Anchorage Alaska Thursday.

HS FOOTBALL - This week the Tongue River Eagles will host their youth football camp in Dayton they open tomorrow and will run through Thursday the camp is for all 1st through 8th graders the sessions will be from 6 to 7:30 pm. Registration forms can be found at the corner grocery and the school district office in Ranchester.

The Sheridan Bronc football coaches will take team captains to the Big horn mountains this week for a camp before they open fall training a week from today the Broncs open the season at home August 28th against Casper Kelly Walsh.

The Big Horn, Tongue River and NSI football teams open camp August 17th all volleyball, cross country, Lady bronc swimming, tennis and golf all officially begin practice August 17th as well.

SHERIDAN REC DISTRICT - The Sheridan recreation district opens registration for little guy football today through Friday for both the flag football and tackle leagues. Parents need to sign up players at the rec office in Thorne-rider park during business hours the regular season begins for both program august 25th.

The annual J.D. Mullinax tennis tournament is this weekend they have men's, women's and mixed doubles divisions the fee is 20 dollars per player per event. The tournament will be played at the Thorne-rider park courts they are currently taking registration at the rec office.

LOCAL GOLF - The Sheridan county junior golf season ends today with the season finale at the Powder Horn.

HIGH GOAL POLO - The Flying “H” polo ranch held the “Bradford Brinton” cup Saturday with team “BTA” playing “The Villages”. The “Villages took the cup by the score of 16-13 Steve Dalton was named the MVP with his pony “Optima” named the best pony of the day. This week they host more action Thursday afternoon at 1 and Saturday they host the “Oliver Wallop” cup that match will start at 1 o'clock.

NFL - The Denver Broncos opened training camp this past Friday they open the pre-season at San Francisco August 14th.

MLB - The Colorado Rockies have won four straight after sweeping a weekend series at Cincinnati they closed it out yesterday winning 6-4 they are off today before heading to Philadelphia to begin a three game set with the Phillies.
