GOLF- The 13th “Summer Hummer” golf tournament continues today at the Powder Horn.

Organizers open the Sheridan county junior golf tournament series Monday the first event will be hosted by the Sheridan country club Monday morning. The junior golf program is for all kids ages 8-17 registration forms can be found at all three local courses kids compete in their own age group and the fee is ten dollars per player per event. The 2nd event of the series will be played at Kendrick golf course July 27th and the finale will be at the Powder Horn August 4th.

American Legion baseball - The Sheridan Troopers and Sheridan Jets close out the American Legion baseball regular season today the Jets are the road while the Troops play at Thorne-rider. The jets will play two in Powell today and the troops host Rapid City post #320 this afternoon. The post season begins next Wednesday with the Troopers at their district tournament in Casper while the Jets play at home hosting the American Legion “B” state tournament.

MLB- The Colorado Rockies beat San Diego last night 5-3 as they stay “Red Hot” since a horrible start in April and May which saw them as many as 14 games back in the national league west the team has turned it around after the firing of manager Clint Hurdle. since June 4th the Rockies have gone from a joke to a national league wild card contender going 29-9.

FOOTBALL- The 2009 football season is coming closer the Denver Broncos open training camp July 31st with the first preseason game at San Francisco august 14th. The Wyoming Cowboys open training camp in three weeks the Sheridan Broncs open team training camp August 10th the class 4-A season is a week longer this year with the state adding a ninth regular season game all other classes will have an eight week regular season. The Broncs open at home August 28th against Casper Kelly Walsh. The Big Horn Rams, Tongue River Eagles and NSI Wolves will follow the Broncs a week later.
