The elite runners are on the course this morning as the 100 mile event of the big horn trail run got started in the tongue river canyon. Last summer course conditions were so tough organizers had to change the route of the race. Race director Michelle Maneval says it won't be that bad this year but runners can expect some brutal trail conditions*and Maneval says the 100 mile competitors are well prepared for about anything mother nature can throw at them* The best of the best will compete the 100 miles in around 20 hours the race record was set last year by Carl Metzler with a time of 21 hours and 12 minutes*The shorter distance races begin tomorrow morning in the Tongue river canyon. Scott park in Dayton is the finish line they will have live music and food for all the competitors and the public is also invited out to the park for the afternoon.

In local baseball action the Sheridan Troopers host a double header with the Billings Lobos tomorrow at 1 pm.

The Colorado Rockies finished up a three game series with the Tampa Rays yesterday by beating the Rays 4-3. The Rockies have won 13 of their last 14 games and two in a row since the Rays ended their 11 game winning streak the Rockies will open a weekend home stand tonight against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
