Despite rain and cool temperatures the Sheridan Troopers and Gillette Rough Riders played a double header at Thorne-rider stadium last night. The Riders are the defending state champs and for the second time in a month they swept a double header from the Troops. Gillette broke open a close game in the opener in the 6th inning, they led 6-3 going into the 6th and put up a ten spot and won the game 16-3.The second game started with Gillette jumping on the troops leading 6-0 after two innings. The Trooper bats then came alive in the 3rd, after scoring a run to make it 6-1 the wheels came off for the Gillette pitchers the trooper's Patrick Wicks hit a three run homer and two batters later Derek Scott hit a two-run bomb to tie the game at 6-all Gillette would score one run after that and it stood up for a 7-6 victory.
Next up for the Troops is a home double header this weekend against Douglas the Troops beat the Cats twice in Douglas a couple of weeks ago play begins at 1 o'clock Saturday. The troopers also play at home Monday against Spearfish South Dakota and based on what they've seen in the last few weeks head coach Ben Phillips expects a lot of parody in Wyoming American legion baseball this summer.

Celebrate the arts week activities in Sheridan kickoff Thursday at the Sheridan Inn, the Sheridan media golf tournament will be played Friday at Kendrick golf course proceeds from this year's tournament go to the Sheridan public arts committee to purchase two sculptures for permanent display at the new hand in hand early childhood education center. Thanks to Sheridan county golfers the tournament field is full

It's all-star week in Sheridan the annual Wyoming / Montana all-star basketball series will be played this weekend. Team Wyoming is coming off a four game sweep in the series with South Dakota the competition from the Montana all-stars is expected to be much better game times Friday at the Hoffman dome are at 6 and 8 pm. The games in Billings Saturday will be played at Rocky Mtn. college also at 6 and 8 pm all four games will be broadcast live on am 14-10 KWYO.

The Colorado Rockies are playing their best baseball of the season, in the last week the rocks have won five straight including a four game road sweep at St. Louis. The road trip continues with a series in Milwaukee the Rockies are still in last place in the national league west and have a 7-4 record since manager Jim Tracy got the job when Rockies fired manager Clint Hurdle two weeks ago.

The NHL Stanley cup finals and the NBA championship series continue tonight. The Detroit Red Wings lead the Pittsburgh Penguins three games to one after winning Sunday 5-0. The NBA finals head east tonight for game three the Los Angeles Lakers lead the Orlando Magic two games to none. The hockey game is televised on NBC the NBA finals are on ABC game three tips at 7 o'clock.
