The annual Hoop Jam basketball tournament was another smash hit even though it was forced to move from main street the tournament was a huge success with great weather and big crowds. the tournament started nine years ago as a fund raiser for the Wyoming rehab athletic training program that benefits Sheridan high school and both Big Horn and Tongue River high schools. The first eight years the tournament was played on main street in downtown Sheridan this year it was played on the all new Whitney commons, Memorial hospital CEO Mike Mcafferty started the tournament nine years ago and says the new venue worked well and with a participation up this years Hoop Jam may have been the best they've had and finally they are proud to be able to have the athletic training program for our local schools.

The Sheridan Troopers spent the weekend on the road and picked up their first win of the season beating Casper Saturday in the first game of a double header the Troopers got a three run homer from Issac Carrel to tie the first game at 9-all and went onto the win it 10-9. The Troops kept the pressure on the Oilers by sprinting out to an 8-0 lead after three innings but Casper rallied and won the second game 9-8.

The Troopers host their baseball camp for Webb Wright players this week the camp starts Wednesday and runs through Friday. the camp will run each day from 9 am to noon at Thorne-rider stadium to register players contact American legion baseball general manager Dan Bilyue at 672-2376. The troopers will play their next games at home Friday evening against Casper.

The Sheridan media benefit golf tournament will be played at Kendrick golf course Friday the 12th. The tournament is a four person team scramble you can register as a team or a single. Play begins at 1 O'clock on the 12th with dinner to follow. The NBA playoffs moves the finals after Orlando eliminated Cleveland in six games Saturday night.
The magic play the Los Angeles Lakers in the finals which start in Orlando Thursday night. the format has two games in Orlando followed by three in L.A. and if needed two in Orlando.

The all-star high school basketball season runs for the next two weeks. This weekend the Wyoming / South Dakota series will start in Gillette Friday and in Spearfish Saturday. Four girls from Sheridan county will play Taylor Gardner and Katie Strandholm from Sheridan high school and Morgan Mines Arvada/Clearmont and Sammie Perkins from Big Horn. The annual Wyoming / Montana all-star basketball series begins in Sheridan Friday June 12th in the Hoffman dome at Sheridan college game times are 6 and 8 pm. the games in Billings will be played in Billings at Rocky Mtn. college on the 13th all four games will be broadcast live on am 14-10 KWYO.
