Beauty before Age

The Sheridan Main Street reconstruction project makes this spot of beauty inaccessible for viewing by vehicle this year. But for pedestrians, adjacent to the reconstruction zone is this cluster of beautiful fragrant lilacs in front of Taylor Place, the former John S. Taylor School. The school opened for the 1910-11 school year and closed after the 1986-87 school year having served Sheridan students for 77 years. Built at a cost of $47,775 it sold for $150,000 in 1990. For much more on Taylor School see: Sheridan Wyoming - selected historical articles by Charles W. Popovich that is available at your local library.
