Stephen Edward Songer

Steve passed away peacefully at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK, in the company of his family after his courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Steve was born in Sheridan; then later moved to California where he graduated from San Marcos High School in 1961. He returned to Sheridan shortly thereafter and had been a resident since.

Steve's most rewarding career was the 13 years that he spent as the Property Manager and family member of the Sheridan County YMCA. The last 3 years he volunteered at the YMCA of the Big Horns. His unique ability to fix nearly anything was cherished by all those that worked along side him. Steve also worked as a mechanic for Decker Coal, a salesman for Hammer's Chevrolet, restored cars for Bob Carson, and also owned and operated Songer's Cycle in the 70's. Steve will be remembered for his smile and willingness to help out those in need, yet asking for nothing in return.

Steve is survived by his mother Henrietta “Hank” Songer, who resides here in Sheridan, as well as the love of his life, Ann Revelle, and her two sons Phillip & Angie Bohnsack, of Sheridan and Stan & Sara Bohnsack of Baltimoore, MD, both of whom he cared for as his own sons. In addition, Steve's sons are Stephen “Troy” & Brenda Songer of Orangevale, CA, Brian & Moana Songer, and Kevin Songer of Sheridan. His Grandchildren include Christin Songer & Michael Songer both of Orangevale, Megan Songer, Mindy Songer and Sera Songer, all of Sheridan, as well as Abigail Bohnsack of Baltimore and Sierra Bohnsack of Sheridan. Cousins include Cliff Calkins of Homer, Alaska and Barbara Miller of Utah. Steve was preceded in death by his father Charles Adrian Songer and also his paternal father, Edward Matthews.

Steve asked for a Celebration of Life, which we be held on Friday, Nov 5th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Elks BPOE #520, located at 45 W. Brundage Street in Sheridan. Carry-in reception is being coordinated by Terri Bare 674-7055.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked your tax deductible donations be sent to:
