John L. Madzia

John L. Madzia, age 72, of Sheridan died Friday, January 22, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10:00am at Kane Funeral Home with Reverand Kevin Jones officiating. A reception to follow at the Sheridan Center Best Western.

John was born at home on December 17, 1937 in Monarch Wyoming to Paul and Agnes (Bachlet) Madzia. He was one of six children. The family later moved to Acme, Wyoming.

Upon completion of High School John married Delores Marosok on August 17, 1963. They had two daughters, Linda and Kathy, both of whom reside in Houston, Texas. After 23 years of marriage the couple later divorced but remained close friends.

At an early age John was intrigued with automobiles. He appreciated the various body styles and the complexity of their engines and parts. In turn this lead to a long history of employment with Cook Ford Sales as a mechanic until retirement.

In his earlier years John loved snowmobiling. He enjoyed racing the machines as well as working on them. The family would travel to nearby towns for competitive racing. Many of his weekends were spent in the Big Horn mountains on pleasure rides which the entire family enjoyed. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dart ball and watching sports. His favorites were Nascar and NFL football. He loved the Dallas Cowboys.

He looked forward to each spring. This was the time of year he would begin planning his vegetable garden. He loved growing tomatoes and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. During the summer months visits from his daughters and grandson were anxiously anticipated. Picnic lunches and teaching Blayne how to fly fish made his day.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his sisters; Agnes Legerski and Alice Warnke, his two daughters; Linda Nunez and Kathy Madzia, his son-in-law Jason Nunez and his grandson Blayne Curry.
