Betty Jo Ann French McKenzie, 91, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Westview Health Care Center.

She was born January 21, 1928, in Sheridan, WY to Herb and Gladys (Powers) French. She grew up and attended grade school in Otter, MT and later graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945. She married the love of her life, James E. “Dick” McKenzie, December 31, 1947. She lived most of her life in the Otter Creek country as a strong pioneer ranch woman. She enjoyed being on horseback and caring for the cattle. Betty was known as a great cook and neighbors could be found coming around, especially at dinner time.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her son, James “Jimmy” McKenzie; her grandson, Wayne McKenzie and her parents and siblings; brother, Don French, and sister, Patsy (French) Foss. Survivors include her children, Charles (Patti) McKenzie of Buffalo, WY and Richard (Sheryle) McKenzie of Big Horn, WY. Grandchildren include Christi Clark, Wendy Cook, Steven McKenzie, Gina McKenzie, Jess McKenzie, and seven Great Grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at noon, Sunday, July 21, 2019, at The Barn in Big Horn. There will be a private family inurnment.
