A 20-year-old Sheridan man recently changed his plea on a number of felony drug charges in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. Nathanial Van Buskirk pleaded “guilty” to the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver- Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Controlled Substance- Oxycodone. The possession charge is being prosecuted as a felony because Van Buskirk has six previous convictions related to drug possession.

The plea agreement that was reached with the State recommends a sentence of 3 to 5 years in prison for each of the charges and to run the sentences concurrent to one another. District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and scheduled the sentencing for September 30 at 10:30 am. Van Buskirk’s bond was revoked and he was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center where he will be held until he is sentenced.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Van Buskirk was arrested on April 5 when he was pulled over by law enforcement for a traffic stop. A search of Van Buskirk’s vehicle yielded 23 Oxycodone pills without a prescription and 218 grams of methamphetamine.
