An earthquake struck the Bighorn Mountains Sunday morning, according to the US Geological Survey, or USGS.

The 3.2 magnitude quake was centered about 13 miles SSE of Meadowlark Lake, or 3 miles west of Dull Knife Reservoir, and happened at about 10:07am local time.

The quake occurred at a depth of about 3 miles, which is considered shallow for earthquakes.

A 3.2-magnitude quake is considered a minor one, and there are an estimated 49,000 of them annually.

Although quakes can happen anywhere, they generally are more common on the west side of the state nearer to the Yellowstone area, which is more geologically active.

No damage has been reported with Sunday’s earthquake.
