Young scientists from northern Wyoming congregated at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Wednesday filling the Exhibition Hall with 140 different projects.  It was the Northeast District Regional Junior Science Fair.

Students representing area schools including Tongue River, Big Horn, Sheridan Jr. High and Holy Name, as well as schools from Recluse, Upton, and Newcastle were on hand to present their findings.

Tim Maze, coordinator for the science fair tells us what these young Einsteins had to do.

But the students learned much more than hypotheses and experiments or possible outcomes and conclusions.

Holy Name 7th grader Morgan Parker took first place in the Medicine and Health Sciences division with her project, “Oh Say Can You Sing.”

The competition was tough and Morgan’s philosophy, win or lose…

There were 45 judges from the Sheridan area and the first, second, and third place winners in each of the 17 different categories will go on to the state competition to be held March 6,7, and 8th at the University of Wyoming.
