Susan Thomas, founder of the Craig and Susan Thomas Foundation, will be commencement speaker for both the Sheridan College and Gillette College graduation ceremonies in May.

Dr. Paul Young, president of the Northern Wyoming Community College District, made the announcement at a meeting of college district trustees Thursday night.

Graduation will be May 10 for Gillette College and May 11 for Sheridan College. Both are open free to the public.

Thomas established the Craig and Susan Thomas Foundation after her husband died in 2007, and the Foundation was in operation for 10 years operating a scholarship and mentoring program for at-risk students.

The foundation also awarded monetary prizes to educators who championed the needs of at-risk young people.

Also Thursday, college district trustees approved the appointment of Erin Kilbride as an at-large member to the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority.

SEEDA is an organization of Sheridan College and the city of Sheridan, and Kilbride's appointment will also have to be approved by Sheridan's city council. Kilbride is director of the Tongue River Valley Community Center.
