Yellowstone Opens For Winter Season Today

Yellowstone National Park is now open for motorized over snow travel for the winter season. The new temporary plan allows for up to 318 commercially guided snowmobiles in the park a day and up to 78 commercially guided snow coaches per day.

Tomorrow morning, the road from West Thumb through Lake to Canyon and Norris; and from Mammoth Hot Springs through Norris on to Madison will open to the public for travel by commercially guided snowmobiles and snow coaches. Travel over Sylvan Pass and the East Entrance road is scheduled to begin 8am on December 22nd.
