The third annual Wyoming-Montana Academic Challenge was held at Sheridan College Thursday. The competition featured six-player high school all-star teams from both states that were presented with oral questions in a buzzer style format over five rounds of competition. Team Wyoming got off to an early lead and prevailed by a final score of 133-93.

This is the first time Wyoming has won the competition, as Montana took home the traveling trophy the first two years. Two members from the Wyoming team reside in Sheridan County, as Sarah Maze and Owen Bensel are from Tongue River High School in Dayton.

The winning Wyoming team members received gold medals and tuition-free scholarships to Sheridan College, plus the traveling trophy. Montana students received silver medals. All the participants also received All-Star T-shirts and Sheridan College T-shirts, along with door prizes donated by Wal-Mart of Sheridan and Valley Hardware of Basin.
