Wyoming Tornado Drill is Wednesday

The National Weather Service will issue a test Tornado Warning for Wyoming Wednesday at 10:30 am. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.


The National Weather Service, FEMA, and emergency management agencies around Wyoming are encouraging people to use Wednesday’s annual Tornado Drill to practice severe weather safety procedures as severe weather season draws near. Warning Coordination Meteorologist Tom Frieders with the National Weather Service in Billings.

Frieders says that contrary to popular belief, we do get a handful of tornadoes every year in Wyoming that are fully capable of causing extensive damage.

In a related matter, the NWS out of Billings will host a Skywarn severe weather spotter training class Saturday in Sheridan. We’ll have more details on the class for you in a future story.
