Wyoming State Band to Head Back to Rose Parade

WORLAND, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming High School All State Marching Band will march in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, on January 1, 2011. It will be the fourth appearance by the all-state band in the parade.

Executive Band Director Dave Bellis says the plan is to put together a 350-piece band of high school students from across the state of Wyoming. Students will submit applications, along with recommendations from the band directors at their school. From the applicants a balanced band will be chosen.

Each band member will pay his or her own way for the parade. The cost is $1,700 per student. Bellis said this is the 10th time the band has been formed in the past 20 years. The last time the all-state band was formed was for a trip to Hawaii in the fall of 2008.
