Wyoming Recognizes Gold Star Families On License Plates

Families of service members who died while serving in the military may be eligible to have a gold star on their Wyoming license plates.

The Gold Star Plate program is sponsored by the Wyoming Veterans Commission, and is open to spouses, parents, grandparents, children and siblings of deceased servicemen and women who died in service or as a result of serving. There is a $30 application fee, which will be paid by the commission through 2012 and possibly beyond.

So far, Sheridan County has two plates registered with this indicator. Statewide, 81 cars, trucks, or motorcycles currently have the star. Applications for these novelty plates are due 30 days before the current registration on a vehicle expires in order to give time for the plate to be minted.

Interested parties can find an application here.
