TRUMP-CLIMATE PLAN

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Trump administration is advancing a proposal that would replace President Barack Obama's principal attempt to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions with a new rule expected to go easier on the ailing coal industry. The Environmental Protection Agency disclosed Tuesday that it sent the new rule to the White House for review. The document itself was not released, but President Donald Trump has been outspoken in his desire to prop up coal by rolling back what he considers burdensome regulations.

NAVAJO NATION-RADIATION EXPOSURE

SHIPROCK, N.M. — From the end of World War II to the mid-1980s, about 30 million ton of uranium ore were extracted from lands belonging to the nation's largest American Indian reservation. Today, across the Navajo Nation, sit dozens of abandoned uranium mines and the high risk to residents of contamination exposure. Now, the Navajo Nation is urging the U.S. Congress to expand a federal law that compensates people who were exposed to radiation resulting from nuclear bomb tests stemming from the Cold War.

NEVADA WILDFIRE

RENO, Nev. — More than 600 firefighters slowed the progress Tuesday of a massive wildfire in a remote part of northern Nevada that is generating so much heat and smoke that it's now visible from space. A NASA satellite captured infrared imaging of the fire that has burned nearly 700 square miles (1,813 sq. kilometers) of mostly sage brush, grasses and rangeland — an area almost half the size of the state of Rhode Island, according to the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center.

POLICE SHOOTING-WYOMING — A police officer in central Wyoming shot and killed an armed man who had earlier pointed a gun at several people and had led police on a car chase.

WYOMING WILDFIRES — A grass fire in northern Wyoming has consumed more than 56 square miles and closed a section of one state highway.

UNIVERSITY DORMS-FUNDING — The Legislative Services Office says it would be better to pay for the rebuilding of the University of Wyoming's aging dormitories with state funding rather than a public-private partnership.

YELLOWSTONE-MOUNT WASHBURN — The Mount Washburn trails and trailhead parking areas in Yellowstone National Park will be closed for the summer, beginning Thursday.

FATAL ATV CRASH — A teenager from Texas was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash in northwest Wyoming.

OFF-DUTY OFFICER STOP — Jackson police are investigating after an off-duty officer from Colorado pulled a gun on a teenager who was running to a bus stop.
