Wyo. Ranks 19th in Nation Regarding Child Welfare

The KIDS COUNT data book released the results Wednesday that rank Wyoming 19th in the nation in terms of economic well-being, family and community. Marc Homer, with KIDS COUNT, said the state's showing isn't too shabby, and we're trending in the right direction.

According to a media release from the Wyoming News Service, the state's child poverty rate is 14 percent, compared to a national average of 22 percent. On the flip side, Wyoming ranks nearly last in the health cateory because of the states high child and teen death rate, which is 47 deaths per 100,000 children.

The report also shows the teen birth rate in Wyoming is trending up, while the national rate has been dropping. To view the full report, click here.
