Both Wyoming's U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis and Wyoming's U.S. Senator John Barrasso released public statements condemning the attack on Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

Representative Lummis said she was “deeply saddened and troubled by the horrific attack on Representative Giffords, her staff, Federal District Court Judge John Roll, and the residents of Arizona’s eighth district.”

Lummis added, “Gabrielle Giffords is a beautiful person inside and out. I encourage all Americans to pray for those killed in the incident, for the recovery of Representative Giffords and others who have been injured, and for our country. This deranged individual’s senseless act is an attack on our free country.”

Senator Barrasso released a statement saying that "News of [Saturday's] attack in Arizona is shocking and tragic.  The violence and loss of life is very sad.”

He also said that he and [his wife] Bobbi “are keeping the victims and their families in [their] thoughts and prayers."
