WYDOT Closes 14A for the Season

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed US 14A between Burgess Junction and Lovell for the season due to the recent inclement weather. WYDOT had intended to keep the 22-mile stretch of scenic mountain road in the Bighorn Mountains open until December 1. District Maintenance Engineer Larry Konetzki said in a news release issued by WYDOT, that heavy snows and relatively light traffic during the winter months make it impractical to keep the mountain road open.

Konetzki said that during the time the road is closed, motorists can use US 14 via Granite Pass and Greybull as an alternative route from Sheridan to Lovell. WYDOT will open US 14A next spring after crews spend several weeks clearing the winter snowpack from the road.
