WWA Hits the Road To Educate About Wilderness Designation

The Wyoming Wilderness Association is hosting a conference today in Casper to kick off a statewide educational campaign surrounding wilderness area designations. The group, which has been a driving force behind proposing the Rock Creek Area to be designated alongside the existing Cloud Peak Wilderness Area, hopes to get the designation from Congress. Carolyn Schroth with the WWA says the aim of the classes is to dispel some myths about what it means for an area to receive wilderness designation.

If the Rock Creek Area is approved for designation of new wilderness area, it would be the first time in 28 years Congress approved such a measure. The last designation was the Cloud Peak Area in 1984. To learn more about the WWA and their upcoming events, visit www.wildwyo.org.
