Workforce Services Director Resigns

Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Director Joan Evans will resign from the position next month. The news comes from Governor Matt Mead’s office. Mead issued a statement Thursday, confirming that Evans resignation will take effect July 10. Evans, who’s held the director position for over eight years, said, without disclosing specifics, that she intends to pursue other options outside of state government.

Governor Mead said that Evans was instrumental in combining the Department of Employment with the Department of Workforce Services, and that the merger of the two agencies was at times difficult, but the result was more efficient service at less of a cost. The search for a new director will begin immediately.
