With Winter Making Its Presence Felt, Drivers Should Be Cautious

Winter has come early to the Sheridan area, and we’ve seen the coldest start to October on record. Drivers need to take extra caution when on the roads and remember some basic traffic rules that make it safer for everyone.

Sheridan has several intersections with unusual configurations. Sheridan Police Lieutenant Andrew Conrad says being in a hurry can be the biggest cause of accidents.

Another question raised recently deals with making right turns on red at Coffeen and Sheridan Avenues. It is legal to do so, but traffic must yield to those turning onto Heald Street from Sheridan Avenue.

Police caution that just because an action is legal doesn’t necessarily make it a prudent choice when driving. Driving more slowly and leaving for your destination earlier are the best choices during winter weather.
