Sheridan Memorial Hospital trustee Ron Mischke won the custom fly and rod and two-person float trip in the Rex Martin Memorial Raffle held earlier this month to benefit the hospital's cardiac care programs.

In all, 20 prize winners were drawn in the event held Aug. 17 at the Third Thursday celebration in downtown Sheridan.

The raffle began as an idea by Rex Martin's family to recognize the care he received while at patient in the hospital's cardiac facilities. Martin's son, Ryan, who arranged the raffle, explained in an interview with Sheridan Media last month.

Ryan Martin sold nearly 800 tickets for the raffle, and said he and his family hoped the raffle helped raise awareness about the state-of-the-art cardiac care available locally in Sheridan. Martin said his father received caring treatment from knowledgeable doctors and was always treated with respect and honesty. He said from the beginning, his father was confident in his care and those relationships with the hospital staff.

Martin also thanked the many local sponsors who donated prizes for the raffle. Prizes included gift cards, beverages for a year, tires, a grill, gas and oil changes and more.
