Whitney Art Facility Ahead of Schedule

Construction of the new Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College in Sheridan is ahead of schedule.

That's according to college Facilities Director Kent Andersen who said that even though the college is closed for the holidays, construction on the $20 million art center remains ongoing. He said the project is, in fact, going very well.

He said $16 million of the cost is funded by the Whitney Benefits Foundation of Sheridan. The project renovates 12,000 square feet of existing space and adds 42,000 feet of new space to provide a state-of-the-art facility for students in fine and performing arts and music. He said both contractor Dick Anderson and architect CTA are doing “an incredible job.”

On the current schedule, he said, the project is expected to be completed by July next year, which will allow ample time for the new facility to be ready for classes in September.
