Wendy's Rallies for Foster Care

Wendy's in Sheridan will host a community event Tuesday at the restaurant on Coffeen Avenue to raise awareness for National Adoption Month and fundraise for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

From 5 till 8 p.m., 15 percent of restaurant sales will be donated to support the Foundation in its efforts to find forever homes for children waiting in foster care.

The Foundation was established by Dave Thomas, the founder and CEO of Wendy's, who was himself adopted and was an advocate for adoption.

Thomas opened the first Wendy's restaurant in November 1969, naming the restaurant for his then-8-year-old daughter, Melinda Lou, whose nickname was Wendy.
